Good Shepherd School started its glorious academic journey in 1989 and still continues having crossed many memorable milestones with splendid glimpses of success. The motto of the school is “Light to Life”.
Shri. P.K. Narayana Panicker, former General Secretary of NSS inaugurated ‘Montessori House of Children’ at Changanassery by lighting the lamp 1989. The blessing of the Foundation Stone of Good Shepherd School at Thengana was in 1994 by H. H. Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II.
The school recorded a substantial growth in the strength of students in the recent years. We have over 4326 students from Pre-primary sections to Senior Secondary level on our roll. We have 267 well experienced and qualified teachers and 79 non-teaching staff who continuously strive for the betterment of this institution.
Our school has given a major thrust to develop the infrastructural facilities too. Well equipped three Science Labs, two Computer Labs, digital classrooms, Audio Visual Lab, Library, Hostel facilities for both boys and girls, 30 school buses, football, throw ball and basketball courts are some the other attractions of the school.
Our school is really proud in the meritorious achievements and outstanding results of our students who bring a tremendous victory every year by securing 100% pass with many A1 in all subjects in the AISSCE and AISSE examinations. Every year, a large number of our students come out with very colourful results in Medical, Engineering, IIT, AIIMS, Civil Service and all other reputed professional entrance examinations. Very prestigious Good Shepherd Award was given to Prof. Ninan Abraham (2006), Adv. P.K. Narayana Panicker (2010), H.G. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrisostum Metropolitan (2013), Shri. Rishiraj Singh IPS (2014). Our school received Best School Award from Madappally Block Panchayath from 2011 to 2015, for five consecutive years. Other prestigious awards that we have received are Sophia Award for Best Child Friendly School, K. C. Varghese Memorial Award, Powervision Channel Puraskaram, PCM Toppers Award, Changanassery Merchant Association Best School Award, MEC Best Academic Performance Award, INC Madappally Mandalam Committee Best School Award, CBSE National Merit Awards, KCSL Best School of the year Award, National Green Corps Award with a Cash Award of Rs. 50,000, P.C. Alexander Memorial Award, Malayala Manorama Nalla Padam Project A+ Grade and National Child Development Council Best Child Friendly School Award.
To stimulate active participation and initiative among students in the learning process, a good number of Clubs are functioning in our school. To provide challenge and comfort as a critical part of meaningful holistic education, co-curricular activities like dance, music, instrumental music, karate, yoga, skating, jewelry making, drawing, origami and socially useful and productive works were trained under the guidance of well qualified teachers. To train the students to face the defeat with a smile and maintain humility even in the victory we give much priority in Sports and Games in our school.
Making the students aware of the true value of philanthropy and to inculcate the value of charitable works, our students are asked to contribute their share in different ways. Home for homeless people, medicines and financial help for sick people, clothes for calamity affected people etc. We conduct almost all prominent scholarship examinations in the school, thereby offering our students to get trained in writing competitions. This year it is a new venture of our school to start a scholarship examination named ‘Stellar’. An All Kerala Interschool Quiz Competition named ‘Mind Quest’, is also conducted in our school every year.
